So far so good with the new version of CloneDVD on my sony drive. (backing up the grudge) Not sure how it'll come out when its finished, i'll let you know. Maybe my laser is crapping out on the lite-on.
remember that version of clonedvd2 is only beta , so with that being said it may not be quite right and that may be the reason for it not working correctly with your liteon drive . all in all i think you will end up with a working copy of the grudge when your are done . im glad you are getting some where with this issue .
Well so far no good, Clone DVD 2.7.2.1 starts off encoding better than 2.7.1.1, but within a few seconds it fails. I am having no problems at all ripping the DVD with the latest DVD Decrypter. But I've tried the ripping aspect of DVD Shrink 3.2 and it stops at 25%, but it does shrink the Decrypter file fine. After using either Nero Ultra 6 or Clone DVD2, I end up with 4 mins of black screen which you have to fast forward through before the movie will start. But the movie itself does seem to work fine after that. I am having the exact same problem with The Forgotten.
try 2.7.3.1 go to cdfreaks.com look for dvd burning that is where i got the update. But i used dvd decrypter and than shrink worked great. try the update use a DVD-RW just in case!!!!
slider78 - I had the same outcome using just Decrypter and then editing the files with shrink. I think there are errors that decrypter doesn't report when it rips. Trying using ANYDVD with decrypter. I've gotten errors doing that that I didnt see before I ran ANYDVD in the background. Finally - I was able to successful backup the grudge and little black book with my sony DVD drive...no luck yet with the lite-on. I'll keep you posted.
For those who reauthor movie only, (to get rid of the black screen in the beginning of the movie) first rip all files with latest dvddecrypter, then use dvd2one and uncheck the empty "cells" at the beginning. This will give you a clean movie. Then you can compress/process with dvdshrink, which I think is better for that purpose.
i had to use new dvd decrypter myself. Do you guys talk about the begining of the movie where it is blank (BLACK) for like 5 minutes. If so it has nothing to do with copy just the movie its self.
Ok - so this has gotten my interest for most of the night and this is what I've come up with. Using the new version of CloneDVD (beta version) in combination w/AnyDVD worked on The Grudge, and similar movies. Using DVD Decrypter in File Mode and then editing with DVD Shrink leaves a black "dead film" in the begining of the movie, which in turn, makes playback screwy. Using DVD2ONE 1.5.1 instead of DVD Shrink, you can emove blocks 1-9 (or 10, i dont remember) of empty space (you'll see playtime=0). This will work, and no "dead film". More updates to come.
I used DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink for The Grudge and Ray to back up the whole dvd. In dycrypter click mode/read as an iso file. Save it to a folder. After dycrypter does it's thing go back and set decrypter to mode/write/iso and close decrypter. Then open DVD Shrink, click file/open iso image, select the iso image you just created with decrypter. Let shrink do the analyze then click on the folder that says unreferanced material. Then where it say compression "automatic" in the drop down to your right click on it and change it to still pictures. Do this just for the unreferanced folder. Uncheck the French language to get to 4300 MB or under then hit back up and burn with decrypter. Works all the time!
Try just copying the main movie straight from your dvd rom to your HD with anydvd running. I think the main movie was vob 7. Reauthor with shrink and Voila. It works.
p4r4 you said the new version of clonedvd and anydvd worked. what version are they? do you know if clonedvd2 v2.6.1.3 and anydvd v4.5.5.1 will work?
I dont find that decryter is an issue at all...clone dvd just wont encode/compress it. DVD shrink did but I had to re-autor and clip the section of black screen out, then used clone dvd to write it. Turned out perfect if all you care to create a backup for is the movie itself.
Had the same problem w/ CloneDVD v 2.5.4.3 Used 1 Click DVD Copy and no problem. Using latest version of AnyDVD.
I don't know if anybody has mentioned this. Just skimmed through this thread. I could not rip Ray or The Grudge while AnyDVD was running. I turned off AnyDVD. Using just DVD Decrypter v3.5.2.0 I was able to rip both Ray and The Grudge.
