my dvd drive tray opens and closes, the light flashes a few times but i do not here it spinning, then nothing. i tried uninstalling, that did not work. i tried downloading latest drivers, it tells me none available. in the device manager, it tells me it is working properly. do i need to replace drive? my computer is about 3 years old and i've burned many many dvds with.
Sounds like it is dead. If you hear no spinning and you do not hear a wine from a freewheeling motor, then it's time to spend $25 for a new one.
