You can't run it because GTA4 makes mincemeat of even good cards, and your 9400M card just isn't powerful enough to run the game, even on lowest settings. I think this is why it crashes your GPU memory isn't the only factor, the actual processor on the card counts and that isn't that good on your card. Also, GTA4 is very CPU intensive as well, and 2.00GHz may not be enough even if you have 2 cores. I'm not thrashing your system here, I'm just saying the game has been coded very badly, and doesn't seem to support many computers that give a decent performance in other titles Sorry
update on gta IV the game does run on my computer but at low settings you said 2.0ghz dual may not be enough the minimum for the game is 1.8ghz dual core i am acctualy impressed with the geforce 9400m as it is more powerfull then i expected
im having problems too. Ive just installed gta 4, i created a social club account first then i put cd 1 in, then cd 2, and cd 1 again to complete installation. It says the installation is successful. After logging into my social club account i get a option to play the game, which i played and loved, it was great, so after saving the game I come back to it the next day..... but when i hit play now in social club, the cd wont even run/spin. My computer is refusing to read the cd. So uninstalled it, and reinstalled it, but no luck. My comp has 2gb ram, intel core 2 processor, a nvidia 8800gt grafix card, and has 200gb spare memory. Any help would be deeply appreciated. btw... i took the game back to the shop i bought it from, and they refused to take it back, they said its got something to do with the internet activation, so its no good to us(waste of my £30 if it dont work). These windows games are becoming a pain in the bottom. No wonder people all over are playing hacked and cracked games for free.
