Sup people, I just got my new rig running a week ago, and today I installed GTA IV and the FPS is 1-60, averaging at around 10. From a bit (and then some) googling I found out that A LOT of people are (were) having serious performance problems, at least on launch. What I wasn't able to find out is if said problems are supposed to be fixed by now, or if there's an update of some sort out (for mobo, GFX card, the game...)? If so, links are appreciated My rig is: P6T Deluxe v2 i7 920 running @ 3,8Ghz HD 5870 6GB of 1600Mhz @ 5-6-6-16 ~500GB (250GB free) of storage space on the HDD GTA's installed in Temps run low (processor peaking at 50, GFX card @ ~60-65; I've also done stress tests with prime95 and everything's running smoothly after 8 hours of torture). For reference, I can run Farcry 2/SHIFT/Oblivion/Whatever 24/7 with everything maxed, and the FPS very rarely goes under 60 in any game (for the record, Crysis is not a game, it's a monster). And I must say I'm very disappointed in Rockstar. Been a GTA fan from day one (quite literally; a friend bought the original one for PS pretty soon after the launch and that's where I first fell in love with the series), and a proud owner of every part since then, and I absolutely loved San Andreas, so I was expecting a lot from IV... Seems like Rockstar failed me for the first time. Please prove me wrong.
Ok, this is pretty embarrassing, but a friend of mine who you could an universal pro (meaning that he's pretty pro in everything computer related) signed in on MSN, and I asked him. Two file sends later the game is now working perfectly on ultra high & HD resolution. I don't think the files are illegal (certainly not morally wrong) but in case they are I won't be listing them here. If someone's having similar problems give me a PM and I'll give you the names. Sorry about the thread; I wish he would've signed in a tad earlier
