GTA4 Freezes & Lockup Fix..Read for( PS3)

With anecdotal evidence from internet forums suggesting that Grand Theft Auto IV might be suffering from intermittent crashes on both launch platforms, Rockstar have initially offered advice for PS3 players.

Forumites have reported crashes and freezes following the game's intro-sequence, and the publisher say that if this happens you should delete your game data and reinstall GTA IV.

Apparently, the problem is more prevalent on the earlier 60GB model console.

No issues here. The game is running fine for me and that after watching the opening cinematics 3 times (keep getting interupted. Damn family!)

 

Should I be concerned that the game DID freeze on me--but during gameplay and NOT the intro?

It could simply be that outta 12 hours, I was playing it for like 9 lol. Coincidentally, the game would hiccup (and ultimately freeze) in the Bronx (Bohan, I think it's called).

Otherwise, I've had no issues with the game.

 

It was at one point where it seemed as if it was locked up or froze for jsut a split second. Comparison to a pc when it temporarily stops responding. this happend when I was driving but I havent had any issues. I have the 40g model. The game did freeze on me, cuz I paused the game and just left it for about an hour or two. Came back to a paused screen but nothing responded. Had to hold down power buttong to shut it off. game played fine after that. Ive had no other issues at all.
That lil fix was the same fix when the Asassins Creed issue happend. I had to return my 60g and get the 40g cuz my ps3 eventually did the same thing for any "blueray" disk I inserted. Game and movie. Before I returned it, I had to erase almost every game data utility to get the other games to work. eventually this fix stopped working and I jsut took it back to gamestop.

I only copmpleted about 3-4% so far....

 

Mine froze right when I went to light the guy on fire in the top of a warehouse. I held down power restart and havent had problem since..Im at 8.67%, that happened around 4 or 5%..

 

Mine Froze Up too.(40GB PS3)

Ive had many Hiccups here and there and then all the sudden everything froze. I wasnt even playing for long(1/2hr).

It was right after I dropped off Demitri for the first time.

Nothing worked. I had to do a reset from the PS3 itself because the PS button on the contorler wouldnt work.

SUX. Just spent $100+ on the game and this is pissing me off.

Hope RockStar Come out with a fix soon.
I really dont feel like playing and then they tell me to Delete all my files and install new, like the fix for the Intro Bug.

 

I'm honestly surprised they didn't pick up a problem this common in beta testing, hopefully they fix it soon though I'm sure fixing their servers is higher on their priority list atm.

For what it's worth, I have an original 20 gig that's been updated to 120.

It did NOT freeze on me today. I only played for about 3 or 4 hours before leaving for work.

I'm gonna chalk up yesterday's freeze to the 8 or 9 hour marathon play fest. At least, I hope that's the reason.

 

Yeah i was just about to get a killer deal on a 60gig version, now i wonder why. Good thing i did not get the ps3 or the game yet. Even though it would be fun to at least look at a frozen screen thinking... "well i got it". I do not know. I feel bad for rock*, we all have to, after all they worked over time and an extra year and this was unseen. I do not know...rock* does not even know. Hey maybe a hacker will figure it out. I am wondering though how will rock* patch this game? Even if a person patches the game the hard copy would still be messed up, so if somone wanted to play it on another system that person would have to get the patch, right? Even not playing the game and not witnessing the freeze i think this game still gets a 10/10. Just think about it, it is a big city...HUGE and you have to make sure everything is perfect. All i know is i would crap my pants if i found out that i was responsable for the mess up of anecdodaly thousands of games. I wonder if this will effect the games being sold. Probably not, the people that wanted the games got them, the people waiting for the glitches are waiting for them to be gone, and the poor people are playing other people's systems. O well people will be looking back and saying o that is nothing, just think about how bad it could have been if they released it a year earlier like they planned.)))))
