I must be stupid I have downloaded the gtromloader v 4.00 but what do I do with it when I click on bin file what should I be looking for and where does 7.09 firmware come in to it

You do not need the GTRom 4.0 for the box super, you need the 7.09 if in Ireland or v8.00 if in UK, and you do not use any bin files it is a Unified Loader (All In One) go to the STARVIEW link at the bottom of my post or the link provided by linny, it's all the same.

Exactly what does it say on the front top left of your box, I see you have started the thread title Gt Rom loader 7.09 so I am presuming you have the Box Super, post what you have exactly.

That is correct - you are using the correct firmware UFL for that box, are you using a NULL MODEM lead on it's own or with a USB adaptor. Also what version of windows are you using, if it is Vista then forget it you can do without the hassle.

Well please take my advice and give up on it, there is to many conflicts with Vista, the adaptor is bad enough for a newbie in assigning COMM port to it. The best thing you can do is get yourself to a friends standalone PC running XP that has the 9 pin serial port on it (Thereby not needing the adaptor) and you will have the job done in no time, take my word for it. Good Luck.

Honestly do as I have said, I have never used a mac, believe there may be a way but complicated, sorry but I can't advise further - I have given you my honest opinion and advice, please accept that. That is the way that I would go, but someone may advise on the mac.
