[GUIDE] Downgrading a TA-082 2.71 to 1.50/3.02 OE-A/B

I've seen many questions related to the TA-082 downgrader and how to use it. So I made this guide because there wasn't one. It includes all file downloads and instructions.

NOTE: Go to Step 2 if you're already on 2.71 firmware, make sure your PSP is a TA-082.

1) Download this update to 2.71:

Open the zip file. Connect your PSP to your computer via USB or card reader and put the 2.71 (eboot.pbp) into X:\PSP\Game\UPDATE (X is the PSP drive) you have make the folder called "UPDATE" in the Game folder.

Then on your PSP go to Game > Memory stick > 2.71 update. Be sure to put in your AC power and upgrade.

2) Dowload this easy installer for TA-082 2.71 to 1.50:

(It includes the 1.50 Sony eboot update and HEN-D).

Open the (.exe) and state the drive of your PSP. Then it should copy over files to your PSP. Follow the readme and downgrade to 1.50.

3)Then if you want to upgrade to custom firmware like I did, use this easy installer to go from 1.50 to 3.02 OE-A:

Open the (.exe) and state the drive of your PSP. After the files are done copying over to your PSP. On your PSP go to Game > Memory Stick > 3.02 OE-A installer:

4) Then if you want to play PS1/PSX games, upgrade to 3.02 OE-B, make sure you go from 3.02 OE-A then 3.02 OE-B or else your PSP will brick:

Be sure to follow instructions carefully, good luck. I take no responsibility for damage, although I've done the steps above and I'm on 3.02 OE-B from a dreaded 2.71 TA-082 PSP. I hope it helps. Sticky if needed.

question I have a TA-082 unit with firmware 2.60 is there any custom firmware I can run since im a noob and think that the lowest I can go to is 2.50. I have torn google apart looking for answers.

 

woooooww it actually worked my psp is living proof that a ta-082 unit can downgrade from version 2.71 to 1.50 I was scared to death during the process though .. wheew thx everyone

 

I'm currently running 1.5 FW on my PSP. I'm also using devhook .46 and I am new to the custom firmware scene. I'm not a noob though, I've modded many systems in my time.

Can someone tell me more about this 3.02 OE-A and 3.02 OE-B? I would like to play PSX games on my PSP. I guess what I'm looking for is general information. Thanks!

 

it can play psx games. has visulatization and all the goods of 1.5+ upgrade now!

 

1. I do not have a TA-082 PSP. Is this a problem. There is no text written on my PSP inside the UMD door.

2. Also, if I upgrade, what are my chances of bricking my PSP (more than when I downgraded from 2.71 to 1.5 or the same?)

3. If I upgrade, will it have any effect on the .iso files I have now? Like will any of them become unplayable?

4. Does the installer for this upgrade include devhook? If so, what version?

does anyone know of a link to install the latest devhook on a 1.5 ta82 psp, i would upgrade to 3.03 oea but i dont want to. thank you to anyone who helps.
