I'm currently have a slim and fat PSP both on 3.71M33 so does this mean I stand a chance of having this slowdown problem if I install 3.90M33?

Also do you think DA will sort this in an update?

    Thanks

so i need to install the custom firmware, is it too late to do that now that i have installed the official 3.90?

im sure this question has been answered many times, but what benefits are there to having the custom 3.52? how do i get psx games onto my psp with this firmware?

You will need a Pandoras Battery and the magic MS to install it to the PSP.

Custom firmware allows you to do a whole host of things that the official firmware wont, such as play homebrew and "backup" games and PSX games.

The PSX games and "backups" are added to your memory stick once you have Custom firmware installed, you also need pops to play PSX but if you search for that info you will find many links regarding it. It realy is very easy to do once you have custom firmware.

I have looked and searched and searched and looked, but I do not see a "cure all" for the dreaded 8002014C and 80020140 errors when trying to use umddumper. My UMD games play fine from the UMD, and I have figured out how to copy the games to my PC, then copy to the memory stick, and the games play fine off the memory stick.

However, I am unable to use umddumper, even though I have both umddumper and umddumper% in both "game" and Game150" folders.

    I am running CFW 3.71 M33-4, and I have the 1.5 kernel. I have seen a suggestion to disable umd, however in the recovery menu the only selection I see that resembeles this is "UMD Mode" with several options;

    Normal-UMD required
    M33 driver-NO UMD
    Sony NP9660 -NO UMD
OE isofs legacy - NO UMD

So I tried each of these settings. I still get the error message when trying to use umddumper.

In the recovery menu, under configuration, in the "Game folder homebrew" option I have tried using both 3.71 kernel and 1.5 kernel, and I continue to get the same error messages when trying to use umddumper.

I think this covers it. I have not found anything else to try :(

    Any other suggestions?

ok i want to update to 3.90 m33 to play god of war.but im very cautious.heres how my story goes

i got my psp which was 3.10 oea (in pakistan local retailers sell psps preloaded with cfw) then i updated to 3.40 oea then to 3.52 m33 with no problem but the problem started when i updated to 3.71 m33.when i started updated suddenly the xmb popped up and asked me if i wanted to update to 3.71 (not mentioning of m33) i got scared and cancelled it and whrn i rebooted it was bricked.the pandora thing was too complicated so i went to a local reatiler who unbricked it and installed 3.71 m33 for rs 900 ($10).now i want to update to 3.90.

    can i directly go to 3.90 from 3.71 m33 2???
the guide said that FW will be installed my sony installer so does that mean when i was updating to 3.71 m33 there was no reason to get scared and i shud have proceeded???
after going to 3.90 m33 will i be able to update through network update??? i heard that now network update will automaticalyy install CFW???

    plz hep me

Excuse me but I'm having a problem with 3.52M33-4, and I want to update to 3.90M33 but the problem is that once I have everything set up and ready to run, I start the updater and then it says "390.PBP does not exist" although I have it where it's supposed to be (in PSP>GAME>UPDATE) with the EBOOT, so it won't let me update, and yes my kernel is set up to 3.52... I also tried with 3.80M33 and I had the same problem...can anyone please help? Thanks in advance : D

i have a question.. why is it that when im trying to install the 3.80 firmware, when the official update starts, it says that my system configuration is incorrect?[or something like that].. what im trying to update is a FAT psp with 3.71 m33-2 firmware.

Nevermind I fixed the problem that I mentioned before, I used the "ONE STOP UPDATE" and that was much easier, in case someone was having the same problem with 3.52M33-4 should check that out and give it a try : D

    Hi,
I bought my PSP from Ebay with 3.52M33-4 already installed and have been happily playing every game i can get my hands on for over a year now. Recently i've heard about the firmware updates that would give me internet radio and allow me to play the newer games, and so i stumbled across this forum.
I'm planning to use this guide to do the update to the latest firware (3.90?) but was wondering if you could give me a list of things that could brick my PSP so that i know what to avoid. Sorry if i sound over-cautious but i managed to brick my XBOX and created a lovely black paperweight and don't need to make a smaller white one from my PSP! (Plus the wife would never let me buy another!).

Thanks (and thanks for the guide!)

    Stillan

I found this guide very useful in getting me from 3.52 M33 to 3.71 M33. I tried to update from 3.71 M33 to 3.90 M33, which I was able to, but in 3.90 M33, I wasn't able to add the 1.50 Kernel, as there is no GAME380 folder on my memory stick, there is only GAME340. I tried putting the Update folder in GAME340, GAME 150, GAME, even created a GAME380 folder, but the 1.50 Kernel setup never showed up on the XMB. What is the solution?

Never mind, I got. For anybody else with this problem, make sure you put the Kernel 1.50 Update files in a folder called Update in GAME.

Hi, I am new here and got all things required as described in this great guide to mod my PSP lite currently on 3.73. But as I downloaded the 3 PART files, my anti-virus (Kaspersky) blocked the download of the 3rd PART file, with an alert on QUICKBATCH.U virus. Is this a false positive? Anybody else has seen this?

Great guide! It helped me out a lot. After upgrading from 3.52M33 to 3.90 M33-2, what files can I safely delete to free up space on my memory card?

    I'm on 3.71 M33-3 with the 1.50 kernel, when I upgrade to 3.90 M33 and 3.90 M33-2 will I need to add the 1.50 kernel again?
