Cool, well I got it to work that way so that's good news. Thanks for your help.
Ok, take into account that I really don't know what I'm doing when modding my wii (probably figured that out). I can't get the priiloader to show up in the HBC. I'm guessing that I'm supposed to do something more than just put that boot file into a folder inside the apps and put the hacks.ini on the SD root. I'm guessing I'm supposed to copy all those other files that came with the priiloader somewhere too, but I've tried a few different combinations and can't get it to work. What do I copy and where do I put it?
Essentially, all you need is the boot.dol. However, if you want you can include the icon.png and META.XML. This way an icon is visible in HBC. Also, ensure the directory is correct: SD:/apps/Priiloader/boot.dol. I must also add there is a slight chance that your SD card is finicky.
Sure enough, 'twas the finicky SD card =).
Thanks for your help!
I have a question. I'm going to update priiloader to latest version.
Can I use the old hacks.ini or has it been updated so I need to download also the latest hacks.ini file?
My hacks.ini is still in the root of the SD card, but if I understood correctly when I will update Priiloader, this will delete the existing hacks.ini ? Am I right?
Yes you can. The hacks are actually written onto the NAND. There is no need to touch the hacks.ini file.
Thanks a lot
I have a doubt. I want to autoboot to CFG USB LOADER
So I need to put the CFG USB LOADER .dol file in the root of the SD card.
The problem is that I don't know (or I'm not sure) which is the coorect .dol file.
Is it the one inside:
CFG_USB_Loader_Pack (1).zip =>
Extract to SD Card.zip =>
wadmanager 1,5 =>
Many thanks in advance.
Remember, the boot.dol is not cotained in a folder or archive. Instead, it is directly placed on the root of the SD card. As to avoid confusion (most especially if you used Bannerbomb), rename the boot.dol file to the corresponding name of the USB loader--CFG USB Loader.dol.
Some saves for my games off the USB are not saving
One example is Mario Tennis
That question is irrelevant to this guide. Please open a new thread and ask that question there.
Awesome guide! Thanks for taking the time to put it together!
OK, I will have a look to the root of the SD when I get home.
I hope there are not too many boot.dol otherwise I will not know which is which...
About using Bannerbomb, I have no idea.
I followed Larry's guide word by word and all works.
I have not done any extra step than what in Larry's guide.
Additionally I installed Priiloader of course and CFG.
Thanks again for great help
finally I had time to take a look at my SD card.
Well in the root of it (and in any other folder) there is no .dol file at all.
Instead I noticed that im my hard drive (which I use for Wii games) there are these folders:
and a txt file "README-CFG USB Loader".
Well, inside the FOLDER "apps" there is another folder named "USBLoader" and inside it there is the boot.dol file.
Is this one that I need copy/paste in the root of my SD card?
And if YES, do I just copy also in the root of the SD card and keep in the hard disk as well or should I delete it from the hard disk?
Yes. Copy that file onto the root of the SD card; keep the same file on the hard disk.
This may be a stupid question, but that's never stopped me before:
Is it possible to install an auto-booting (through Priiloader) forwarder for a USB loader? I'm asking because, as I understand this, I wouldn't have to install a new boot.dol every time a loader was updated. The forwarder would load, then point to the SD card, which would have the new version of the loader on it. Is that sort of thing possible, or am I not understanding forwarders properly? Thank you again for taking the time to answer.
Yes. Just install the corresponding forwarder for USB loader app that you're using.
I followed Larry's guid and I softmodded my 4.2U wii and I did the DOP IOS MOD and I installed IOS70 and I did the CFG USB process.
Bootmii was installed as IOS not boot2.
The Question is ,am I still in need for priiloader and for what exactly..
Please forgive my ignorance..
Please read the guide. Afterward, decided for yourself whether you need it or not.
My question is " is it mandatory to use it or just for safety if system crashes ?? "
Separate names with a comma.
