    I love your guide 3dluis!
    I have one question though...

Can I use this same method to make gameshark that will work on swap magic.

The thing is I have actual copy of gameshark (v4), but I can't boot my backup games with it...
This is what I am doing:

    1. Gameshark V4, choose codes, press start game
    2. Press eject replace disc with swap magic 3.8 (also tried without pressing open button by using fliptop)
    3. Boot up swap magic 3.8, replace disc with my backup game (dvd) using fliptop
    4. It freezes when it tries to load game
on the screen where it says "loading game, please wait" (something like that...)

So I was wondering if I made a backup version of gameshark and made it a gameshark that will work with swap magic, my problem will be solved.

    Is it possible?
    (sorry for the long post)

Since no one has asked and been answered to this question.

I have the AR MAX with the USB Stick and Swap Magic 3.8 Coder. I was wondering if you know a way to use this method for that. It's so annoying that I can't use my codes for backups. =(!

Also as it's been said the savefile link has been expired.

How do I backup/extract the AR Max disc? I tried using DVD Decrypter but that didn't work because the AR Max disc is CD. I also tried ISOBuster and CloneCD but both gave me disc read errors...

hello is this thread dead? I also need those modified files and cant see anywhere on that sm site?? should i just download that armax smagic edition>?
i followed ur guide with my armax CD ( not dvd. dont get that) and instead just extract with isobuster and swap copy of big2.dat for big.dat ( also inc updated codelist ), burn with nero udf\iso and this works fine!but alas i still cannot get the backups to load without those mod files.
Why cant someone just post a link or at least a description of which files they are/and to replace.did i miss something or has everyone just given up? btw i use exploit\cogswap method normally.

sorry dbl post but to all the people reading this who are in the same position i was do yourself a favour and get rid of action replay max (with its ridiculous loading times) and just download swap magic plus coder 3.8 elf file, place this elf on u memory card and just use it instead of cogswap from launchelf...voila cheats on your backup.

its not 100% but its close, theres a thread here on AD to show you how to do the codes. Also i must add that manual code entry on this is also better than armax which for me was fuzzy and hard to double check codes.Unfortunately i dont know how to update full list armax style, but its got alot of games already in it(jap, ntsc and pal)

BTW i did download the armax swap magic version and be warned all it is a crappy, hacked turd of a program and after long load times and numerous swaps the crap still wouldnt load any of my games, even without cheats so remember swap magic plus coder 3.8 elf file....theres even a link to d/l it here on AD. Good luck all

Yeah, I thought this thread was dead too...

I have AR Max original. Managed to update the codelist and boot it on a CDR. All you have to do is basically replace the old codelist with the new one. Here's where you can download the latest codelists:

    Latest US Codelist:
    http://www.datelversions.com/ar_max_update/codelist_us.bin

    Latest Europe (EU) Codelist:
    http://www.codejunkies.com/v3test/codelist_eu.bin

AR Max will boot backup games with cheats enabled if you use CD/DVD Loader. There's a CDLoader.elf file available but so far I haven't been able to boot it from my USB flashdrive. I just get a black screen. Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks to onimuusha, I'm gonna try booting that Swap Magic.elf file instead.

@lackyno: one thing i've heard which i know is true about AR Max. Datel updates their list to remove old games & older codes + old games. Anyone have a code list from about Jan 2004? There are a few games (.hack series) that i'd like to play but most of those codes are missing from the latest code list! This policy of theres = teh suck!

Really? They remove the old games/codes from the codelist? Its file size is getting bigger and bigger so I assumed they just add more new codes to it whilst still keeping all the old ones. Well, at least for the PAL codelist anyway.

lackyno, it does kind of make sense. The more codes there are to load up, the longer it takes AR max to start when you first turn on the PS2. The codebreaker v9.2 takes me a good 2-3 mins to load. Also, a huge filesize on their server + lots of d/l = higher bandwith. So they're just cheap that's all :(

I need to find a codelist from about Dec 2004/Spring 2005. That should contain lots of the older RPGs, Devil May Cry series & first games ever on the PS2. They seem to clear a few games/every few weeks on the downloadble code list. Keep your older codelist or your favorite old school game might disappear on the next update.

Worst of all- they don't have an archive where the older files can be d/l. Not even for members who paid for & received a "members only exclusive" code to register with.
