GUIDE: PUT YOUR PS3 IN A DMZ

Great thread !!

But still we cannot et my sons PS3 to work with a Belkin N1 router.

I know that others elsewhere have had problems with this router.

I followed the advice on page 1 and put the PS3 in a DMZ etc etc.

But I get a message saying that the connection to the router timed out with an error code of 80710092.

Any clues ?

change your dns settings on your ps3 to Primary 208.67.222.222 and Secondary 208.67.220.220 if you still cant get connected then change your ps3 to automatic and change the dns settings on your router with tose dns addresses

I've just tried those dns settings and still get a DNS error message.

If I change the dns settings on my router,won't that muck up other stuff that uses the router such as laptops etc ?

No it shouldn't do, if other computers on your network have dhcp enabled then it will automatically detect your internet settings, just give your computer a reboot.
if it does mess things up you can always change back.
also can you tell me what nat type you are getting on your ps3?
Also i would recommend using wpa2-psk encryption AES not TKIP, ps3 and psp seems to handle it better for some reason.

I tried using the 'Easy' auto setting but it seems to use the same settings as previoulsy input manually,if that makses sense.

I have just about given up,as have spent hours on this so far.

Might be the router,as other have had problems with Belkin,but I only bought the bloody thing 6 weeks back !!

hello, on your PS3 set your subnet mask to 255.0.0.0 as it is on your router page, not 255.255.255.0 as stated.
set default router, primary and secondary Dns to the default gateway of your router 10.217.135.10

I'm away but my lad has just done the above including trying with the PS3 both inside and out of DMZ by allocating a static IP address etc etc.

He says he is still geting a DNS error despite all this !!!!!

Ok i have a WPN824V3 Netgear Router. For the Nat type how do you tell that because every time i test my connection it stops at the Playstation Network says it has timed out. It doesnt show me what the what the UPnP is or the NAT Type. When it fails it says that the sign id or password is incorrect but i know for fact it isnt. It says that my NAT Type has failed

thanks so much for the help that you have given here. I have a problem in relation to streaming from my pc to my ps3. I have done this before with my ps3 with another computer (my brothers) with no problems, but when i try and do it with my own pc, windows media player, tversity as well as nero cannot detect my ps3. I have my ps3 in the dmz on my router, I have deleted the contents of the DRM folder on my pc, but still no joy. I have a NAT 2 connection with my ps3, and both my ps3 and my pc work and connect to the internet perfectly. I have a dlink 524 with upnp enabled. really hope you can help, this is a months long hair pulling out situation.

 

hi, imhaving issue with playin online, u have fifa 09 and it works fine but when it comes to cod4 it wont let me join, i had a go at fixing my dmz and it worked for a few goes then i went to play agin and it is doing the same thing as before and not letting meplay on line. it stays on the screen downloading game settins, where as when it worked it got straight in. i rand activision and they said to look at dmz which i have changed and altered my router settngs yet its still not working.... some 1 please help

 

bro.. i cant connect on psn.when i sign in, about a sec. it will syn-out again. im playing cod4 nd 5.. there is an error msg (8002ad36) b4 its (8002ad23). i connected my ps3 thru wired connection directly to my modem. i saw ur guide and i followed it but when i check my DMZ on my ps3 ip address it said that i need to set my DHCP mode to have an ip address. because my ISp changed my IP address. how can i set my DHCP mode to put my dmz to my ps3. and can u help me bout my problem. tnx..

BRO it said that "The selected device has a static IP address. DMZplus requires that the selected device use DHCP to obtain its IP address."

hi guys just an update on my situation, i change my dmz settings though the online gaming works then next time i turn it on to play its back to the same thing were its downlading game settings. i have a netcomm router works fine for fifa 09 and surfing the web on the ps3. can some1 please give me some insight, ill try anything ot get it working...

 

Delete the cache from your ps3 internet browser and disable the windows firewall, then see if you can detect a server.

 

DHCP automatically assigns an ip address to your ps3, if its telling you to use dhcp then you shoudn't set up a static ip address. set up your ps3 connection using the easy setting, and check dhcp is enabled by going to control panel->network connection, right click your connection and select properties, highlight internet protocol(tcp/ip) click properties click advanced.
