Utella, sorry for the extremely late reply. Good try with the switch. Unfortunately modern day switches try to act like a router, they just don’t do a good job at it. An old Hub (don’t think they are even made anymore) acts as a repeater and blast every device on your network with any info that is coming or going.
It would be an expensive attempt, Go from Modem > Switch. From Switch > Two Routers. Port forward each router to a different PS3. I have not tried this and don’t intend to as I don’t have two PS3’s. I feel your pain and I would feel worse if you tried this and it did not work.

This is from another forum... maybe it will help?

(I have two PS3 systems connected to an internet modem on separate TV's. One system is wireless and one is not. You need to have a Call of Duty Mod/warfare 2 game for each system, enable UPnp on your modem and ensure both systems have different IP's. Once that's configured both PS3's have to go online at the same time; otherwise, the connection will be inconsistant or lost, at least with my systems. All other settings on my modem are default)

    Won't hurt to try...

A very good guide, you have worked hard to solve some issues, and the comments show you have helped many. Keep up the great work.

supertape, I was considering logging both on at the same time, but ran it through my head and thought it silly, now it doesn't seem so silly.

I did try 1 wired and 1 wireless before, with one in a DMZ.

I have managed to play both Modern Warfare 2 online ONCE, but have no idea how I did it since no configuation seems to work and ive tested a lot.

It is VERY possible that the one time it did work I connected both online at the same time and just did not realise it.

I will test this at some point this week.

    Thanks.

    Tested.

    Got my answer.

Bad programming from Infinity Ward and whoever else if responsible for online play in Modern Warfare 2.

My wife and I are both online playing M.A.G. with ZERO problems.

    Same team.

    Same clan.

    Same game.

Very slick as I knew it would be from SONY.

I see much of Planetside (my fav game of all time) in MAG

Anyway, it was a fun journey. Thanks for all your input everyone.

    Guys,

    please help...

followed the guide, got a sky sagem router.

I try to connect and get a DNS error 807101102 every single time, where as before my PS3 used to connect, it doesn't at all now.

It sometimes obtains the IP address, but gets to Internet connection and Fails every time.

linksys WRT160n v3 cable hard wired
when i go to the router DMZ page I have source & destination...no host. I assume source is = to host? It wants a range. Do i do anything with the destination? It errors "destination ip address is incorrect" Under dest. i have ip add. or mac add. which one? The Ip only allows me to change the last value which is default at 0. If i change it it errors "you cant use the routers ip, network, or broadcast address" What gives? just changing settings on ps3 brought me from 3MBps to 8MBps

ok so i'm getting ready to give up, I have a linksys WRT310N router, its a wired connection. I did everything to put it in the DMZ, can't count how many times i've checked to make sure i did everthing right. I also set the primary and secondary DNS as 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3. I have the UPnP disabled on both the ps3 and computer. and it says its NAT type 2. But I still get the error 8002a548 saying i've got disconnected from the playstation network. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated

Ok, followed the tutorial to the tee but when I get to the DMZ host part on my router i get this message and I have no idea what to do.

DMZ Hosting is not available while configured for Routed IP WAN (Routed Bridge).

I have 1 Verizon modem/router combo that connects us to the internet. Any suggestions?

Hey guys, I am having a little problem with this. When I put my ps3 in DMZ the regular inter net doesn't work (desktop, laptop etc.) But when I take the DMZ off the regular internet works but the ps3 doesn't. I am using a Linksys wireless router. If some one could help that would be great!

    Thanks in advance!

Bridge = Bad. A bridge does not route, If you are able to take your "Router" out of bridge mode, do it.

I use WMP11 as my media server, when I enable Media Server on my PS3, it kicks the PC off of the internet when i turn the PS3 on for some reason. I keep the media server on the PS3 turned off unless i really want to use it. I dont know what the cause is but you may have the same problem.

Thanks, but its just not my computer that is connected to the router. I don't want to kick the computer off the network because my sister may be trying to do homework or something. I just want to try to get them to work together, harmonized.

lol i was finally able to get to type 2 for the nat but i still says unavailable for the upnp

what should i do now to connect to the media server?

guess ill try restarting everything first

    still says upnp is unavailable
its enable on the ps3 though and my router supports it =\
i had the media server setup before but i dont really know what i did
and i accidentally hit removed from list on wmp11 and im kinda hoping that isnt why it doesnt connect =\

edit: i pressded the tiny reset button on my router and now everythinggs asll fine -.- fail :(

Wow amazing guide, and good feedback too, thanks heaps.
i really need some help with my network settings to get mw2 workin! its driving me nuts..

i can get to the psn, i can browse the net..but when i run the connection test it says "failure" under the internet connection heading...even though i can browse the web?

anyhoo, i get into mw2 and it just sits on the "connecting to matchmaking" screen....does nothing lol

    ill post the settings...

i have a motorolla modem (not sure of the model) going to a Netcomm NB600w wireless router..
my ps3 really hates the router..
i have the ps3 in DMZ i read it was good to do that?

    UPnP : Enabled.
    ____________________________________________________________________

the DMZ ip is : 220.239.201.100

    the settings for the ps3 are as followed;

    Internet Connection: Enabled

    Connection method: Wireless

    SSID: Langfords Wireless

    Security: WEP

    WEP Key: **********

    Address settings: manual

    IP: 220.239.201.100

    Default Router: 220.239.201.194

    Secondary DNS: 211.29.132.12

    MTU: Automatic

    Proxy Server: Do not use

    UPnP Enabled

now that i check it again....every time i do the test its different *sigh* lol one time it will say failed, then succeeded...when it fails though, it says its a DNS error (80710102)

does my ps3 just not agree with my router? could it be that my ps3 is being shit cause of the weak signal it can pick up? (anywhere from 5-20%)

any help would be amazing guys and gals!
p.s, i also tried changing the DNS to
    P: 4.2.2.2
    S:4.2.2.3

    THANKS :)

    *EDIT*
if i disable UPnP, then do the connection test, everything is perfect, but in the time i go across to sign in, something happens and it says DNS error..i redo the test, and it comes up with DNS error, so i enable UPnP, and the same thing happens all over again, it seems no matter what i do, once it starts working, a few seconds later it doesnt.
