Ok so you fancy upgrading to use 2.71 SE-A if so read on,

This is [bold]strictly[/bold] for 1.5 users so sorry to all you Ta-082 users out there but dont try this it will result in a brick.

    What you need is,
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/830 2.71 Special Edition (SE) Custom Firmware Revision A
    http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/4 1.50 EBOOT
    http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/525 2.71 (US) EBOOT

You will also need something to unrar the files i use winrar.

Once you have downloaded the links were ready to start creating the DXAR file which we need later on,

You can leave all your stuff on your memory card save time installing it later, just follow sudds tip near the buttom

    [bold]Creating the DXAR file[/bold]

Open up 271se_A go into MS_ROOT,PSP,GAME, and copy the two files seupdmaker and seupdmaker% into the GAME folder of your psp so it looks like this
    [IMG]

Now open the 1.5 update that you downloaded before and rename the EBOOT.PBP to "150.PBP"

Do the same with the 2.71 update and remane that "271.PBP"

Now copy the two files "150.PBP" and "271.PBP" and paste them inside the seupdmaker file.

On your psp go along to Game down to memory stick and find 2.71 SE Update Maker and run the program,

It will come up with some white writing, dont worry its not flashing your psp its just creating the DXAR file which we need, now this may take some time so just leave it for a while.

Once it has completed put your psp into your usb and on your pc go into PSP,GAME,seupdmaker and you will see your freshly created DATA.DXAR like this
    [IMG]
Copy the highlighted file to your desktop.

Now go back to the 271SE_A folder go into MS_ROOT,PSP,GAME and copy the 271seflasher and 271seflasher% and paste the into the game directory of your psp.

You will now need to copy the DATA.DXAR that we saved on to our destop into the file 271seflasher it will look like this
    [IMG]

    [bold]Flashing the 2.71SE-A Firmware[/bold]

Now we are ready to flash, remember anything that flashes your psp can brick it so you have been warned.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FULL BATTERY AND PLUG IN THE AC ADAPTER BEFORE YOU START

On your psp go along to game and down to memory stick and start 2.71 SE-A Firmware Install,it will come up with:
You are about to flash your psp to custom firm 2.71 SE-A
press "x" to start.By doing it you accept the risk and all responsability of what happens.
If you dont agree prees "R" button.

once you press "x" it starts installing the 2.71 SE Firmware so dont switch your psp off, unplug it or anything as it will brick.

Once it has finished your psp will restart now go along to Settings,System settings,System information and you will see you are now running 2.71 SE-A Firmware, you can delete the files off your memory card that we just used.

    [bold]Re-name your folders[/bold]

Once you've upgraded just rename the GAME folder to GAME150 then create another empty folder beside it called GAME (as this directory is needed) that way you have no need to start transfering your homebrew, you can just play straight away. Thanks to sudds for that tip ;0)

Any 1.5 homebrew goes in the GAME150 folder

Any 2.71 homebrew go in the GAME folder

    [bold]Recovery mode[/bold]

Go back into your 271SE-A file from before go into flasher for recovery, and copy recovery folder over to PSP/GAME folder of your memory card.

To use this function switch your PSP on and hold the "R" button while switching it on,it will bring up a recoovery mode menu, with the options:
    Toogle USB
    Configuration->
    Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PHP
    Exit

The one we want to use is the configuration so press "X" on it

If you choose skip sce logo this brings you straight into the xcm screen and doesnt auto run the umd you have inserted, which is a good thing to enable ;0)

The next option is to hide corrupt icons,i enabled it but it doesnt hide all corrupt icons,so its upto you if you want to use that feature.

And if by any chance you flash a bad gameboot/font you can use the recovery mode and unbrick your semi brick,to unbrick your psp switch on your psp into the recovery menu mode, press "X" on toggle USB then place your 1.5 update from before inside the recovery folder and rename it to UPDATE.PBP , then go down to Run program at PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP this will take you back down to a 1.5, so if you dont like 2.71SE-A use that function but i cant see why you wont like it.

    [bold]Customising your 2.71 SE-A PSP[/bold]

Now you want to customise your freshly upgardeed 2.71 SE-A so download this little app http://dl.qj.net/2.71-SE-A-Customiz...mebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/10725/catid/151 once downloaded copy the folder over to your memory card in the PSP,GAME150 directory.
This little program can change your font, gameboot and background just copy what ever you want to flash into the root of your memory card, like when flashing gameboots, wallpapers to your old 1.5 remember to name them correctly or it wont work.

There is other programs that do this like pspset, you choose what you prefer, but X-FLASH doesnt work as it checks your PSP firmware,so hopefully ART updates X-FLASH to support 2.71SE-A

I have done this guide while upgrading mine so it works,i am now one of the many 2.71 SE-A users.

Hopefully this guide helps, and hope you enjoy 2.71 SE-A lol.

Thanks to Dark_AleX, harleyg and Mathieulh for this awesome
    acomplishment ;0)

@ ach81090 as long as you follow the guide carefully you should be fine, but like anything to do with the flash it could brick, dunno the chances of it bricking are but dont think its very high.
@dibz yes its 2.71 SE-A so its the latest

What are the implications of this when 2.80+ games come out ?

I guess you will have to reflash for 2.80 SE A... yes ?

Well hopefully devhook can emulate 2.8 when the games come out so just use devhook to emulate 2.8,thats my guessing anyway

A wee tip for you stevenps2 once you,ve upgraded just rename the GAME folder to GAME150 then create another empty folder beside it called GAME (as this directory is needed) that way you have no need to start transfering your homebrew, you can just play straight away. ;)

    Yeah, work away mate! ;)
Another wee tip is that if you place ESCAPE DEVHOOK FROM 2.XX... in the GAME folder its accessible from emulated firmware, so no need to hard reset your PSP, incase people are doing that,
This also applies for DEVHOOK RECONFIGURE
