I have got a new psp slim 2001 piano black.

I tried installing CFW using the guide given here.. but to no avail..

    Here is what i did.

    1. I modified my PSP slim battery into service mode using datel battery service tool
    2. Created Memory stick using the files provided here, in XP..(Initially Lexar 1GB and later tried with Sandisk 4 GB)

Inserted my battery first and then MS..it didn't work.. only the power light comes on and nothing else happens (no flashing of MS or wifi lights)... i then tried putting the MS first and then battery.. still the same case.. power light was on all the time and nothing else happens..

    can anyone help me please...

Edit: While creating mem stick.. found that MSINST is not installing the msipl.bin properly.. i didn't get the last screen at all as given in the guide (those sectors screen).. instead after installing all the files (.pbp etc).. it directly went to credits screen

i attempted to run the msinst install separate... but i got this error

i used my friend's XP system for creating magic mem stick... its pretty wierd as for everyone it works smooth in XP... (my friend is not an admin in his system.is this a reason?!)...

i had a suspicion that even though the easy installer formatted the mem.stick, it might not have got formatted properly. so to check that i tried using "mspformat" and i couldnot format the mem.stick in an XP system... :( how did the installer do it earlier i dunno...
all these are driving me really crazy...i hope i have explained my scenario clearly..

    please help me people..

I have the same question as jlj0425 except mine's a phat PSP with 3.90 OFW (there's probably no difference) I've read that some people have said that you can't do it on 3.90 OFW is this true or is it just that these people haven't done it properly?

My other questions are since I have 3.90 OFW would I need the newest version of universal unbricker (I believe it's 4) or will 3 work just fine? I'm also very worried I could mess something up and end up bricking my PSP, any pointers on how to avoid that?

people... while using Easy installer to create magic mem stick, the last step (msipl.bin installation) doesn't happen at all for me..it straight away goes to credits screen immediately after copying IBP files..

    1. I used XP machine with admin privileges
    2. I used Lexar 1 GB card first
    3. Later SanDisk 4 GB card

this thing is driving me nuts.. need some help..

Hi could anyone out there pls help me.

I am trying to use the guide on page 7 made by delateur to create the magic memory stick. I am using XP, and have tried a 256MB, 512MB & 4GB memory sticks, they all havent worked.
My problem is that I dont understand step 5. Could someone please simplify it further for me.

    Thanks

    Hi guys

I managed to solve the problem. I used my laptop instead (that uses Vista) to use the guide at the beginning of the page.

    It worked like a treat.

I know have a psp slim with 3.71 M33-2 cfw

Wondering if I should buy a semibrick slim psp for $110?
"You are bidding a Used Sony PSP Silver Ice Slim 2001 Semi-Bricked System and No Reserved. The power went on, battery is fine and the USB is worked. The PSP system crashed for unexpected that couldn't read UMD disc, game can't play or load and the WiFi isn't working anymore. The condition is mint and it has no scratch or damage. This come with the PSP Bricked System, a battery pack, a Black Pouch and a Wii Wrist Strap. If you can fix this then its all yours. I don't accept return, since I can't fix it myself."

Also on the pics he took it was 3.71 on Jan31 with no macaddress and then he updated to 3.80 and took a pic on feb 3

A Pandora Battery can fix any PSP that is bricked/semi-bricked. Though, are these pictures taken before it semi-bricked? Because if it can still turn on it's not called a semi brick, so presumably it's some kind of hardware fault (A Pandora Battery wouldn't work in this instance) unless it's just *slightly* corrupted firmware...

You can now go to /PSP/GAME folder and delete the despertar_cementerio, pan3xx, ospbt, pandora_battery and pandora_battery% folder because they are not needed.

You are now finished with the Magic Memory Stick part of the guide.

DO I NEEEED to delete those?

Quick question what would happen if you ran your psp off ac power with the battery out? How would it tell if it is in service mode or not if it cant load the info from the battery?
