larry, it's a good thing you didn't make a separate section on how to use the magic memory stick and pandora's battery. that just proves people just skim the guide for the answers.

I bought a PSP Slim yesterday and ordered a Tool battery right away. I hope to receive it next week, so I can mod my new toy.

As I read through this thread it seems clear that all will work straight forward.

The only thing I want to ask is if the "package" that I downloaded contains everything to mod to 3.90 M33? Or do I have to download some official firmware first?
I ask this because the 3.90 isn't available on the official PSP website, but only the new 3.93.

larrylje: Thanks in advance and I'll be thanking you more when everything works out fine ;)

    Greetz,
    lx

Don't take offense but it gets irritating answering questions over and over again especially those questions that are answered in the guide.

You don't have to apologize. It was my own fault. I didn't read the last part of the guide (I overlooked it in some weird way.)

Sorry, next time I double check!

If you have, use a memory stick reader. Those things that you put your memory stick in and then into the computer. Thats the easiest and safest way.

    EDIT

    Hi everyone..thanks for the guide.

I read through nearly all of the threads.

From what I can see, once the install is complete I believe I will no longer need the magic memory stick. I would like to know that I can load in a new 4GB MS that contains movies and mp3s. If so can I just use the 4GB card, re-format it an put my files back.

Also, I am still under warranty. If I have a physical problem and need to send it in for repair, can I upgrade to official 3.93?

    Thanks!

Yes, when the install is finished the magic memory stick will be useless unless you downgrade your psp very often then is useful to keep a separate memory stick.
So after you finished using the guide and wish to put music, videos etc. in the memory stick you can format it.

I must say that this is the best guide on the web thus far for a complete noob like me. I've done my share of research on the internet (google, youtube, yahoo) you name it. Spent countless hours gathering bit and pieces of information to Hardmod my sony battery and create a magic memory stick. Then I came to this site and the information and instruction is so clear that an idiot like me can actually comprehend it. Here is my trial and error method.

I am running windows vista home premium, I have 1 fat psp with ofw 3.52 and 1 slim psp ofw 3.80 my only objective is to be able to play .iso or .cso games without the use of umd.

    1. watch countless videos on youtube on how to make a pandora battery
    2. download over 500mb of "how to" anything I could get my hands on that would help me downgrade my psp ofw 3.52 to cfw.
    3. after reading all of the question posted on this topic I realize I was in the same boat with the majority.
    4. Oh I have the nerve to open my old fat battery and explore my ability since everything was explain thoroughly thru youtube and other sites. so I started to pry open my batter with a flat head screw driver and puff, spark and smoke can out of it, oh well, with the intention of buying another battery in mind I went ahead and completed the process. I open the battery casing and look for the micro controller located at IC04 and lifted the 5 leg without touching the other leg next to it just like the illustration shown on
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/591203 I thought my battery was shorted, dead, and gone for sure. so I went out to walmart and bought 2 sony battery for $32.50 each one to try again and the other just replace the one I f up. well to my luck I purchased a 3.6v 2200mAh sony battery. again I pry it open with patient and care the second time around and the motherboard was different from the first, there is a clear picture of both type of battery including the slim @ pspmod and also a "how to mod" instruction. This time I was successful not frying anything. Great, done with half of the project, now for the mms.

I have a 4gb lexar pro duo, 1gb sony pro duo, and a sandisk 256mb pro duo. I only experiment with the sony and the sandisk the end result was good only on XP. with countless trial and error from elsewhere I was never successful until I came to this forum. I had just about every error listed by other members in this forum. I did everything possible to make a mms using Windows Vista (even ran it as administrator mode) but it was a no-go for me. You know "the green light with black screen" that stay on forever when you insert the pandora battery in. So I kept reading others member trial and error in this post and waited until my brother came by with his laptop running XP. I follow the instruction on the first page and the also page 7 carefully and bam!!!! I was able to create a successful mms. insert the pandora battery in with the mms already in place and service screen pop up immediately on my slim psp without having to press L or R. I went thru the process of upgrading and everything was good. Figure I got nothing to loose why not tried out the smoking pandora battery, so I did, and to my surprise it stills work. thanks to everyone here and many thanks to all the noob question that was ask and later answer it save me from asking the same question. This is indeed the most informative site to go to in creating a pandora battery and an mms for unbricking your psp.
