Go to Game Menu Memory Stick and press triangle then select information.

Look under MagicGate if it says not supported or unknown then you have a fake 8GB Memory Stick.

If this is the case then there is nothing you can do about it. Try getting a refund or exchange it for a proper 8GB from wherever you bought it from.

I pretty much am having the same problem as this guy, however i don't got another comp to try.

I tried the easy installer with a fat battery in a slim, and a fat battery in a fat. Every step up the the very end is fine and works like it should, but when i select option 4 at the end, instead of getting the info screan, some numbers flash by and it goes to the credits. Also, the PSP removable disk remains blank as if no files are copied over, so i can't go on to the next step. any ideas?

(P.S. would this still work if i used a fat battery in a slim? it does not affect the mod does it? )

Format the Memory Stick (make sure you save any data you want before hand).

You should also extract the game from WinRar first onto your PC. Then transfer the ISO/CSO to the PSP after it has been extracted. Do not extract the ISO/CSO directly to PSP directory.

    @tamash

We can only offer suggestions on how to fix your issue. Use a different PC and or Memory Stick. if you have no other PC or Memory Stick then what else can we do for you? Nothing!

As well the PSP FAT/SLIM Battery has no baring on the Easy Installer creating the Magic Memory Stick.

btw, is it alright to format my memory stick again? if so, i would want to use ur easy installer....

Format the Memory Stick via PSP under system settings.

there are three major steps to be able to downgrade, make memory card, then make pandora battery, then flash your psp to custom firmware. You will know if the battery was made correctly when you install the battery without the power cord and you get no screen light up. just green power button lights up.
If you did not get that far then try again to make the pandora battery. if you got the pandora battery program to work off the memcard and successfully changed your battery to a pandora one and you cant get the mem card to run the firmware flasher program to change the psp then you need to try remaking the mem card again.
I found that is is possible to run the pandora battery maker off the mem card even if you dont do it exactly right, problem is that you wont be able to run the firmware flasher, it will just sit there with the green light on with the pandora battery installed.
Please let us know more detail of what you are doing, is working and not working. And good luck.

after i run the script; after the data transfer to the psp is complete, it says "cannot open logical drive" in the message. What does this mean? And is it preventing me from creating a magic memory stick?

    pls help!

    elemba,
If you mean the green light comes on but not the screen, that means your battery is doing what it is supposed to after pandora-izing it, but can not boot the memory card program that flashes the psp firmware.Or another words, the mem card did not turn out right. Try redoing the memory card again, paying close attention to what happens, if you see something different than what the guide is saying(pictures and text) report back because that information is important to helping you with your specific problem.
I had this problem and kept redoing the memory card part till I got it right. Hope this helps.

Sorry for making a redundant post, but I wanted to have the procedure clear from the beginning:

    1. make mem card
    2. make pandora battery (making nandump first)
    3. flash psp with firmware.

    Now here is my question:

At the end (possible step 4.), is it necessary to revert the pandora battery to its normal state? or can you leave it so and it always boot from the mem stick? (without making any acrobatics of taking in-out battery/mem stick).
