Hack your PS3 with your Android: NexusOne or Desire & Possibly Others

Confirmed working on my N1 running CM6. It’s also reported to work on Desire (Bravo) – OpenDesire 4.0.4 and possibly other HTC phones sporting the MSM72K USB controller. I’m not 100% on whether or not Cyanogen Mod 6.00 (CM6) is required, but I know your phone must be rooted. All right, lets do this:

    Download the package, extract it.
Extract N1-CM6-PSFreedom.tar.gz and copy the contents to your SD card.
Copy PS3-signed.zip and PS3-No-More-signed.zip to your SD card.
    Reboot into the recovery console.
    Install/flash PS3-signed.zip.
    Reboot your phone.
Use ConnectBot or any terminal app and type:
    cd /mnt/sdcard
    su
    insmod psfreedom.ko
Kill the power to your PS3, switch on the back (PS3 Fat) or unplug from the wall (PS3 Slim), and connect your phone via USB.
Re-enable power and press the PS3 power button followed by the eject button in quick succession.
Your PS3 is now hacked! You’ll see “Install Package Files” under GAME on the XMB.
To return your phone to normal just boot back to recovery and flash PS3-No-More-signed.zip. It’s that easy. Video coming soon.

    Known bugs:

This will disable wi-fi untill the original boot.img is flashed back.
This will also disable USB mass storage.
FILE PSFreedom for N1 / Desire (and possibly other HTC phones) your phone must be rooted for this to work

I saw it but I don't really care I'm not one of those online type gamers I rather see some homebrew and CFW because I think the the mod scene would be a greater experience for the ps3. If anything I would try the bypass but its not something thats really concerning me.

The Droid port was just released today....

I have a question i really haven't had much time to play with my ps3 like that but I did mod it using my G1 as I stated earlier,so.....

    1. I am just wondering do I have to keep my phone plugged in the whole time to play a game using the backup manager?

    2. I notice that the backup manager is still under games when ps3 is loaded without the doing the hack, so does this mean that I can use the backup manager without having to use the hack as well?

Just somethings that I was curious about, whenever I get the chance I will check it out if no one can answer these.

Nope once installed it cannot be removed so you do not need your phone connected

    Thanks for the response Igmutaka

Ok I got home for lunch and decided to try it and trying to run the backup manager from normal boot and it didn't work lol (never really had hope that it would) hopely in the future all we would have to do is boot up the system without the need of any of that stuff.

There is now a port for Motorola Droid, its at PSX-Scene.com. The droid needs to be rooted and you need cymod6 from what I understand.

Do you think this will work on a Motorola Cliq Phone and also Can I still use it if the PS3 was updated to FW 3.42?

Nope because FW 3.42 was a security update to block the use of this hack

SO many ports, none of them are the psp, the one thing you would have thought it to have been ported to first! psp hackers lower you heads in shame.
