well to no surprise adelphia hasnt taken any action on this person and we are still reciving emails from this person. i guess if adelphia doesnt handle this i will have to take other actions to stop this person but as an fyi to every one adelphia has to be the worst isp posible its been 3 weeks now that adelphia has had the information and has taken any action. its pretty sad when they cant stop one of thier customers from terrorizing another customer

    Hiya,

I don't know for certain, but seeing as you are in the Good 'Ole U.S.A.(tm), the home of the "PATRIOT ACT", maybe you can threaten the ISP with that!!!

Try putting it across that the continuation of attacks by this person against your/your mums computer "may" come under the Patriot Act, as it "could be construed" as an attempt to circumvent the security of the computer, that computer and the attacker being within the confines of the Continental U.S.A.

The "attacker" "may" be a "cyber-terrorist".

Should the attacker gain control of your computer through that attack, your computer could then be used in a "Zombie attack" on a Govt. installation.

Adelphia, in refusing to act on a notification of an attempt to compromise your system "may" be "guilty" of "assisting/aiding Terrorism".

Try putting that to them, threatening to cause a Big Stink(tm).

Personally, I prefer the good, old-fashioned, Baseball Bat to Knees Approach myself, but that is just me - you do what you think is best for you.

    Have Fun....

    Hey everybody,

I think someone I know has made a new email account and is sending me a lot of enoying mails with that new account. Off course I could just block the adress but I would like to know if I can find that persons IP-adress in the source code of the emails to compare it with all the codes of the people in my adress book and finally know who this idiot is. Is this possible and how do I do this?

well.. don't take it personally, i doubt it's an attack against you specifically. for the last week i have also been receaving a lot of emails with a virus attachements, with different reply to addresses, all originating from

    Received: from 24-54-148-219.pittpa.adelphia.net (HELO bore.org) (24.54.148.219

here's some of the headers from the emails.. and yes, they do seem to be coming from just one or two computers. probably affected by the virus itself and spreading it to others

    Hey,

well thats just the case, I know its against me personally. I recieve these mails from the same hotmail account every time and they do not contain any virusses at all, so completely harmless for my pc, but the text itself is quite offensive and I can see that he or she knows about my whereabouts so unless I have a stalker (which I don’t think is the case :O) it must be someone I know. Therefor I would like to know if I can find the IP adress of this person in the source code of the emails to compare it with the source codes of emails of other accounts I have recieved and so find out who this person is.

Try using Mailwasher pro. It allows you to bounce all those nice emails that you have been getting back to the idot person that is sending them. When Mailwasher bounces it back makes your email address look as though its not a valid email address. I have been using it for about a month now. I still get spam but not as much, and usually not from the same address. I believe it works, maybe not 100% but it helps. THis may help you????

I know the site and indeed it helps with bouncing the emails, certainly in my case. But I really want to get the IP-adress because I want to know who is sending me these emails (thats my main goal). Maybe I have to start a new thread about tracking IP-adresses?

Or maybe anybody knows how to do this? If not I'll just start a new thread because I can imagine more people are confrontated with this problem.

remember boys and girls that just becuase an email comes from a person or there ip address doesn't mean that they are the ones doing it, and reporting someone that has not committed an act that would constitute turning them into there isp is not wise. Most email accounts have it set up where you can block spam, plus it is just good practice to buy something like norton internet securtiy that will keep your computer protected from spam and other unwanted acts.

in addition anyone here actually smart enough to know people spoof email address all the time, and IPs, so really think about it before directing them back at people. They may report you to your isp, and there claim will be legitimate. Using software to protect youself without unwanted aggression is really the best alternative.
