Heres what I've been trying to do. My brother and I both have Halo: Combat Evolved. How can we play against each other on our own private server? We have an old computer how would I go about turning it into a server just for us? What software do I need? I'm totally lost and have no clue were to start, any help would be greatly appreciated.
you cant do it on just one comp u need to connect using LAN (local area network) so ur gonna have to install it on another comp if u havent already done so
I could get a lot of kudos by ripping this guide.. But I'll link you to it instead.. http://forums.firedaemon.com/viewtopic.php?p=117& Looks fairly easy. You don't need to run firedaemon..an apache shell should be adequate, as long as you are savvy with running windows services at startup. Or there's the easy way to set up a lan arrangement.. http://www.lanparty.com/theguide/network.shtm http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829469 Both ways are viable. I'd go for the server..but that's me.
Thanks janrocks, That article from lanparty.com is exactly what I needed and more. It tells me what I need how to set it up and best of all it can be used for any game. Cant wait to get some buddies together and have a FragFest!
