i have just put an 80gb hard disk into my computer, it says it has succesfully been installed/connected or whatever. but it does not appear in the "my computer" folder along with my c:drive and d:drive.
could someone please tell me how i can get my new hard disk into use? cheers.

the drive isnt showing up because it hasnt been initialised.

    you initialise it like this

right click my computer and go to manage. when the management window comes up click on disk manager on the left hand side of the window.

this should bring up all your drives on the right hand of the window. one of them will be your c drive (disk 0) and your new drive should show up as disk 1. right click on the drive and go to "initialise disk".

now the drive will show up in my computer but you will need to format the drive before you can start using it. you can format the drive from disk manager aswell by right clicking the drive and going to "new partition" then you just run through the wizard and hey presto your hard drive is ready to use
