i installed a new oem WD 300 gig ide HD and it now is making a clicking sound and these error messages about a hardware failure or internet problem is my hard drive bad? i still can acsess the files saved in it...

Any type of delayed write failure to a local drive indicates a bad hard drive. If it were to a network drive, it may have been a network issue. Sorry to say it man.....your drive is gone. If oyu have another PC, put the bad drive in as a slave and do what you can to back up your data. Good luck.
