I have just bought a new hardrive. I tried to partition with an old version of partition magic (7.0) - when the computer rebooted to start the partitioning process an error came up, and now a substantial amount of my hard drive is not recognised by windows (or is listed as used).
Can anyone help me resolve this problem ??

    thanks

    fred

Well the title of your thread and your question are different. So which did you do? Reformat? Or Partition? If you reformatted what size was the hard drive you bought and what size was it after you rebooted? If you partitioned the hard drive was the drive formatted before doing so?

it was a bit of both - i formatted then tried to partition the drive, it turns out it was related to the fact that windows may struggle to recognise drives >134gb (sp1 corrects this error)

    thanks for your response anyway

Your right I remember reading about that in the booklet that came with my hard-drive.
