Ok, my buddy toasted his xbox HD and he doesn't have a backup. Now Mine is softmodded and working fine. Can I take the files off of my HD and put them on a new one. And drop the new HD in his X-Box? Thanks for the help guys.

Nope, it won't work. Each xbox's hard drive has a unique locking password which is stored as an encrypted file on the motherboard called eeprom.bin, and the password stored on the motherboard must match the locking password used on the hard drive. Without the password you are kinda stuck. You have to get a mod chip, or buy a new motherboard with the matching hard drive and it has to be the right version. If you had the eeprom.bin file you could transfer the files over and then lock the hard drive on your computer and then put it in the xbox, but you don't have the backup so that won't work, sorry.
