Please help, anybody, my primary hard drive crashed and my back up that holds all my pictures, mp3's and other important items is still ok. I reinstalled windows fine on a new hard drive with no problem. My back up hard drive is not showing in my explorer list though. Does anybody know how I may access it? I've installed all motherboard software and it still is not there. I don't wanna reformat that drive unless its the only thing i can do. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

Disconnect all of your opticial drives (cd/dvd) and hook up your backup HD on the secondary channel (i'm assuming IDE here), and set it as master. Boot to BIOS and make sure BIOS sees it and it is reporting as the proper size. Tne boot XP (assuming you have XP) and check for it in My Computer. If not, open up Administrator Tools in Control panel and check Computer management. Under disk management on the left side you should be able to check whether or not the drive is formatted, how many partitions, etc. Also, double check the drive letter that is assigned to to yor backup drive.

This would be a good starting point. Like Sypher said, more details would help us diagnose.

    Good luck

How big is the drive? Did you install SP2 on the main drive?

I apologize for not replying sooner but I solved the problem. Ok my main drive is c: (which is not the drive I was having problems with). I have 2 DVD drives they were listed as D: and E:. I went into disk management; changed the letter on one of DVD drive to f: from D: and then I was able to make change the the drive I was not having access to D: and then made it a dynamic drive, which then gave me access to it. Problem solved! Thanks for all the help! ~RAP
