Recently re-installed windows xp with SP2 and for some reason xp will only recognize one of my hard drives. It shows up in the bios, boot up screen, administrative tools, device manager, but when i go to windows explorer it just shows the C: drive. All the cables are checked, jumpers, power, but still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

btw its a 40gig Maxtor Hard drive that i am having the trouble with.

    Open the file-
c:\WINDOWS\system32\compmgmt.msc (where windows is the root directory name)
Select Disk Management in the mmc window.
Should have disk 0 and disk 1.
disk 0 should be under C:\ drive or any other partition.
disk 1 I think would have unallocated space. Right click on this box and select Create Partition. If they are sharing the same disk controller, they may need the same formatting. e.g. FAT32. Hope this helps
