    Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to connect a hard drive on a gamecube. My cube is modded with a viper chip.

I once heard it should be possible but I haven`t found information about it.

Any links to information would be helpfull.

    Thanks in advance!

    Greetings,

    David

There used to be a few groups working on it, but I guess they were either unsuccessful or decided to keep it to themselves.

So as of now, there isn't a way to connect a hard drive to the GC.

I think the problem has to do with the speed of the bus, it's not just fast enough for a harddrive.
I know someone had made an IDE interface for the gamecube, i've been interested in it (because I have another GC that's optical drive doesn't spin), but I haven't been able to find any decent instructions on what he did, and even if i did, it's probably all over my head anyways.

woudn't be fast enough. I doubt the memory card ports would be fast enough for a harddrive. The point is having it be useful, isn't it?
If you are going to hook up a harddrive, you are going to want it to be able to play games.
I think thats why the person hacked the optical drives hook up to be a IDE connector.

Now, if it's just about being able to transfer files from say, your computer to the gamecube, then sure, you could do with thru the MC port.
