hard drive problem

    i have two hard drives and the second drive does not show full capicty . it shows 31.4 out of 120 gb. can some one help me out. i have updated to the latest bios. thanks in advance

    what size is the other hd, what is your computer specs & windows version?

    my other hard drive is 80 gb and motherboard is abit sg-80 with celeron 2.93 (d or prescott???) with windows xp.

    if no info save on 120gig than delete partition & make a new partition & format it.

    If I were you set the hard drives to cable select.
    I had the same problem when I did it it showed 120 gig on both drives

    sp2 is downloading right now. had to reinstall xp. but even before that drive was not showing full capicity

    what drives are on what cables & what are the jumper configuration as master, slave or cable select? what does the bios see the drive as? don't worry about sp2 as that is not the problem as i use win98se with a wd 160gig partitioned as 40gig for c: & 120gig for d:

    80 gb is master and 31.4/120 is slave

    download & run the utilities disk from the hd manufacturer to see if resolves your problem.

    lost the disk. its ibm something. going to run belarc advisor to find out

    could also look at the top of drive as the info is there.

    check your jumper settings on the HD as i have a 120gig that gives you the option to limit the capacity to 30gig by setting the jumpers. if this is the case theres nothin at all wrong with the hd. just put the settings rite and youll be free to roam the full 120gs
