    Hey guys,

I put a new 160GB WD Caviar in my computer about a month ago(it had been in a box for over a year so it is no longer under the WD warranty.) It worked perfectly for the first month. It has now ceased to do anything. It was a slave to my DVD burner. I have changed cables, I have made it the master w/ nothing else on the cable. Changed power plugs. I am not hearing the disc spin when i start the computer.... It is doing absolutely nothing.

    Any ideas guys?

    SATA or PATA?

confirm the cable has power and if it still makes no spin sound use it for holding down papers ou on the patio table

its PATA, the same plug works on the dvd burner or on any other device. so it looks like a have a new paper weight.....

just to double check, i assume if its not spinning, then i wont be able to use any software to get my data off of it will i?

    thanks,

    Gfx
