hard drive trouble "please help"

    i recently had a new hd, and tried to set it up as master and the old one as slave, but since removeing the old hd i cannot go into windows, the screen goes blank and a mesage saying "operating system cannot be found" please help, both drives do show in bios but i do not understand what to do,also ive tried booting up with the restore cd but to no evail,,,please help me

    Did you clone the operating system from the old drive to the new drive? It doesn't sound like you did.

    Put the old drive back in and clone it to the new drive.

    i have put the old one back in but i cannot pass the black screen saying "operating system cannot be found

    did you change the jumpers around so that the old is master & the new is slave? also is the new hd on the end connector or the middle connector of the ide cable if 80 wire 40pin connector?
