I've really got a problem.I'm trying to reinstall windowsxp and in the process I think I deleted the partition with the OS in it. No matter what I place into the cdrom (and it's first in the bios)I keep getting the message"wrong file ,place system file in cdrom. It tells me that even with no disk in the cdrom.I have pulled the power cord and wait until the little green light goes out hoping to erase the present memory, placed windowsxp disk, placed sparmau bootups, nothng will boot. I can only get into the bios and I've exhausted that scene It tells me I can booth with lan but nothing happened when I did except for a bunch of words and a blinking curser that don't respond to anything. No dos,no safemode. Should I replace the hard drive? Thanks

disconnect all your drives, DVDroms then reconnect (make sure if they are IDE they are properly jumpered.

If it still gives you problems make sure that they do show up in bios. sometimes you have to press enter in bios in every drive slot.

If you still have problems try a different dvdrom if you have one. Because the dvdrom should be booting up the computer whether the hard drive is good or bad.
