Hard Drives won't boot on different Motherboard

For some reason i can't get two different HD's (tried one at a time) to boot up on a different motherboard. I tried different jumper settings, but still no luck. Do i have to somehow reset the motherboard or something? The motherboard will only boot up the 3rd HD that it originally came with.

Yeah same thing happened with my HD too. You see...If the HD's already have an OS installed...you need to reformat and re-install it the OS again on the new motherboard. If you have the Windows disk, try doing the Windows Repair thing as some people have had success with that...but most need to re-install the OS.

One is Western Digital, not sure of the other right now, thank you i will try the repair/reformat approach.

Yeah, I would format the hard drives even if I were switching to the same make and model motherboard, but that's just me. Without a doubt, format and install a fresh copy of windows, you'll have less headaches later on....Later

But how do i reformat an HD when the motherboard can't even boot it? Would i have to boot from the Windows CD? And wouldn't reformatting mean deleting everything on my HD as well?

if wd is by itself on the cable than remove it's master jumper as that is used only if another drive is present on the same cable. yes formating the hd will wipe your info out.
