Dear members, My PC is connected to my reciver. The Audio is from the regular soundcard onboard, I have a cable that has regular plug (like headphones) on one end, and two RCA on the other end. The cable connect from the computer to the Rcv, the Rcv is yamaha 1200 wich has all the dts,dolby2 and others. When I play an AC3 or other surround source on my PC (Xvid,divx,DVD) Is it possible that the data is transmitted as an ac3 (surround) and the Rcv "knows" how to encode it for surround channels??, if not, is there any way beside buying a soundcard with optical output to do that? I believe that PC's soundcard process AC3 signal to sound signal that can be understanded by any receiver. This is when you use regular sound cable, not optical or digital.
Yes, but Does the hardware knows to take the 5.1 channel data and transmmit it thru a simple jack (a stereo headphone plug)? then I beleive also that the Rcv will know how to read it right. Any way I can check it?. P.s. If it wasn't clear, my pc doesnt have anymore than a two channel souncard onboard (nVidia nForce)
if your receiver has 5.1 or 7.1 inputs u can run three seperate stereo cables from your pc if it has 5.1 channel output. no ac3 or dts with one stereo pair.u must use 3 pair or s/pdif (coaxial or digital)
