Does the HDD have any automatic function to not allow files to be downloaded and transferred to bad sectors badblock the HDD? is SMART or SMART just alert Seagate and Western Digital did not answer my doubts
Hard drive manufacturers have a limit of how many bad blocks can be on an hdd before you need to get a new one. As far as i'm concerned any bad block means you need a new one unless you can afford to loose the data. Using a hard drive test software you should be able to see the amount of bad blocks vs what's left & whether you should replace it. You will see in a vertical list something like this. If all numbers are the same in both columns it means the hdd is ok. If one of the columns is different than the other that shows which column is the bad. Columns below in no particular order good blocks bad blocks 100 100 50 50

its not a function,has no name as such.go back to withers reply.and as scorp said,test your drive for bad sectors and replace if needed.its pretty much simple as that.
Bad sectors are flagged as not writeable. The problem you have & anyone else is those blocks are not all in the same place nor side by side. They are spread out over the disk platters
in your opinion my dvd discs burned from files that were in defective sectors are disposable because these files were downloaded in these bad and corrupted sectors? before burning the discs I didn't make chkdsk

What I don't understand is how gamer1987 determined that files are on bad sectors. I meant to ask that question in my first response. I think there's a problem with the term "download." In my experience with other forums, if a persons' native language is not English, "download" is often used as a translation of "written." I don't know if that's the case here. I was surmising that he was "downloading' files from the internet but now he's talking about DVD discs, which might also have bad sectors. He needs to explain more clearly what he means, as questioned by aldan.
Gamer What program is giving bad sector error. Is it a burning software or or windows itself If the cd or dvd burning software mentions bad sectors get better quality discs In future keep in mind nobody can read minds. You need to explain what you are attempting
Nothing is saved in bad block sectors Any data written to a bad block is corrupted. Any attempt to retrieve data from a bad block will be impossible as the data is not there as bad blocks can't be written too

if file is already saved in a sector that goes bad then still possible to retrieve it but data won't be saved to an existing bad block that is empty.
