I have a claasic 30 GB video which was my daughter's until she broke the screen I had the screen repaired and it was ok until I left it in my pants pocket and my wife decided to wash some clothes. you know what happened from there. I let it dry for about a week and decided to see if i got any response from it. Now it charges when I pull out the usb cord the screen will appear though not as bright as it used to, it'll give the option screen to music, video, pics, etc but I cant move the arrow or anything, and eventually it will turn off. but when connected to itunes it shows the music, videos, etc that was on it before the accident. I even put some songs on then took some off and it appears to still work somewhat. My query is I'm pretty sure the click wheel is dead, but what else if anything else could be amiss with it and does anyone think that it's worth trying to be repaired again
Nope, you Hit the nail right on the head, the click wheel short it out, after been washed, at this point, you go to ebay and find an 80gb 6gen classic cheap, you will be spending another $40 or more on the click wheel and shipping. Good luck. EBay listings
lol wow i dropped my ipod in the toilet once. i let it dry out for a few days but the wheel started acting funny and mine started flipping though all the songs without stopping. i just waited a few months and the restarted it and it was working fine. but now the battery is dead and it wont turn off [completely different problem. lol]
I actually just bought a center wheel for my 5th Gen 80GB for less than 20 bucks and 5 for shipping from here . I also bought a new battery for about 20 and got it all within 3 days and they came with all the tools and instructions you need too. I'm not trying to post spam but this place is awesome and legitimate.
