"Yes" The Hauppague WinTV PVR 150/250" Cards are very good cards especially if you are makeing DVD"s from the Captured Video as these cards use hardware Mpeg compression which means the captured files can be authored Directly to DVD without haveing to re-encode them Pluss the card Puts very Little Strain on your CPU cuz all of the Compression is Done on the card......

Another card that is Supposed to be Very good is the "ATI Tul Theater 550" which also uses hardware Mpeg compression but it also has Dolby AC3 audio compression which is the best format for DVD"s and the card is Under $100 Like the Hauppague card.....

    Good Luck

Well Yes ,I don"t see why Not, but I can not think of any reason why you would want to because the Image Quality would not be nearly as Good as when useing a TV set, This is because PC Monitors aren"t for Displaying Interlaced Video which is what your XBoX Puts out so the Captured Image will Look Like it has Lines going through it and it will seem like the Picture Skips in High motion scenes but should look Normal on your TV set.....

    Good luck

I want to transfer some old commercial VHS tapes to DVDs.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to input a commercial VHS tape into a Hauupauge tuner card (150, 250 or 350) via the S-video output from the VCR to the S-video input in the card and save it as an MPEG-2 file. From there I assume it is a simple task to use use DVD shrink/Decrypter to put it on a DVD. So the real question is whether the card will take handle the VCR signla if it is encrypted with macrovision.

    Thanks

Yes, These Card Supposedly Ignore Macrovision so you shouldn"t have any Problems Captureing the Video from retail VHS tapes....

After Captureing you need to use a DVD authoring program to Put the Mpeg-2 files on to DVD, Don"t use DVD Shrink to do it because Firstly DVD shrink doesn"t give you any menu or Chapter Options and DVD Shrink re-encodes your Files which Lowers the Quality....

It is better to Capture the Video at the Correct Bitrate and then use a DVD authoring Program .......

    Cheers
