If you're having trouble with a specific backup start here. Follow the steps below and provide the adequate information. We've seen a lot of posts where not enough information was provided to fully assess the problem. Using this little guide may help.

    1. Ensure that the ripping program(s) you're using are the most up to date versions. Sometimes a new encryption may have been introduced the top two rippers update often to keep up with those new encryptions. In short, sometimes a simple update may be the answer.

    a. For DvdFab users check here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/583712
    b. For Anydvd users check here:

    2. List your problem specifically! Include any error message and when it occurs. Is the problem during ripping/transcoding/burning/playback?

    3. Post a log file! This is one of the most helpful ways that you can help us help you as it can provide information (burn speed, blank media, firmware, etc) that you may not know or think to post.

    4. Specify the full title, region code, country, and release date of the disc that you're experiencing issues with.

    5. Before posting, perform a forum search for your problem and see if it has been adequately handled already.

    6. Do some reading. The users here have provided many guides, tutorials, and informative posts that can help out.

    Two good places to start:

Mods, I vote that we have this stickied. Maybe this can cut down on the "I get an error and can't backup my movie. Please help." threads.

Added to the Ultimate sticky. Just let me know if you want this thread closed (to avoid it being polluted by unnecessary questions) or not..
