im from the uk and just bought a new 40" samsung lcd had it for 4 days now and want to buy a dvd player to get better quality picture,i got told to get a hd one or a upscalling one,but the problem ive come across is i found out my tv is not 1080p.I've been told by the guy in the shop, not to bother with 1080p but to stick with the one ive got or i can buy one with 1080p for an extra £250.What benifits will i gain if i got ahead and get the tv with 1080p,any advice would be grateful

It really depends on your size or budget. Your new 40 in must be 720p/1080i (if upscaled). That resolution is perfect for 40in. But if the guy at the shop said you can get a 1080p (what size is that 1080p tv? Because if you want 1080p your tv should be 50in or above so that you could truly see the difference otherwise it's just a waste of money.

Ok then you have no reason to upgrade to 1080p then, if you're satisfied with what you got then keep your tv but if you really want 1080p you should find a bigger room
