As i said, I have satellite and would like to get a receiver that will boost my signal to get the best quality I can on my HD t.v. I'm not necessarily wanting to get HD programing but I was thinking that there may be a receiver I could cable through to boost my signal near to the 1080. I'm looking at a SAMSUNG HD DIGITAL RECEIVER DECODER SIR-T351 but not sure if this is what i need.

They have in line amps for sats that go in the down line from the dish to receiver. maybe one of those will do the job for you. If your original signal isn't good then trying to boost it with a receiver may not do much good. Signal strength and quality adjustments are done at the dish itself. I could be wrong but thats the way its been explained to me. The amp should be near center of the cable from dish to receiver. Watch the in-out ends of the amp so they are in the right direction.

Jerry 746 is correct, while a high definition box may give you a hi-def picture(when available)it will not boost the signal strength only an inline amp will do that for you.Hope this helps. B.W.
