I have succesfully downloaded a movie in high definition (mkv file format) unto my hard drive however when I play the movie I get the picture quality but can not get the ac3 5.1 sound,Now when i copy this to DVD I get the ac3 5.1 sound.I am using the media player classic on windows vista can someone out there help me?
yep. How are you connecting your pc to your stereo? If you have the correct connection, and the ac3 filter: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ac3filter.cfm Just select "SPDIF Passthru" on the filter settings and you should get ac3 to your stereo.

When I tried to install Cole codec Pack for the installation of the superior headphone sterio effects,(i didnt do it for codecs... i don't have any codec issues in my comp)..... the headphone efects were unable to work. I don't know much about that codec pack. As for me, I use k-lite codec with media player classic/Zoom Player. I hear many problems with codec packs other than k-lite. I have never had any issues with them. As for as the problem with your headphones, you may want to start a new thread with that question and get input from others. I have a HTPC built to watch movies with the sound thru the stereo. I very rarely use headphones. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
