1st of all if anyone can help me??? I’m a real novice at this and struggling with certain lingo used. If I can speak direct to someone it might help????

I was on this for over 2 hrs yesterday and although a few people tried no-one could help me sort out my problem.

I thought it was connect download and update, most users had no problem, and so why have I?

    I have a SV3 not clonned

I have downloaded the latest firmware GTRom_Super_8.02e (saved my desktop)

I then connected by box with the serial cable to my other cable to use via the PC’s USB.

I double clicked on the GTRom_Super_8.02e, choose the com port and click download.

I get flash failed every time?????

One person said I should make sure App file only is selected, then click bin file & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC.
But how you have App File selected only and click on bin file then is shaded. I only have the channel data file, so I clicked on that whiched allowed me to then click on the bin file; I broswes to where I have saved GTRom_Super_8.02e but it found nothing, I really don’t understand

If anyone can maybe talk me through it piece by piece and get my box working I would appreciate it very much. As I said If needed I can phone someone and they talk me through it but I'm really sure I'm doing what the forums tell me to do, but still no joy

    Thank you for your time

When you say serial cable what do you mean? You need a Null Modem cable, the ordinary R232 will not do.

    Thanks for your reply.

I got 2 cables, the 1st is a USB serial connector, and the 2nd cable is female to female cable, to plug in the back of super box and then plug into the USB serial connector.

the GTrom you have downloaded does not require you to select the bin file as it is already included in the GTRom. You can download the channels (once stored) to your PC as a bin file and then re-load atb a latter date if you have a problem or lose your channels!

I don't want to sound patronising but is you SV3 powered up?

Try the link at the bottom of the page it is a very good straight forward tutorial. If my link doesn't work search for dooy2oon in google. (when you have selected App file only you do not need to look for the bin file, it is included in the GTRom)

I hope this help mate, if not keep posting here and I will do all I can to help today.

I had actally printed that all out step by step and still does not work.

I have noticed if this means anything. when the box is in standby and then i get a message saying flash failed the box switches itself on

This is all from memory mate cause I am at work at the min (so you will have to bear with me if my replies are slow) so here goes try this:
    * open up the GTRom ready to run but don't start
    * power up the SV and then as soon as it is on hit the download on the GTRom.

Have you got it connected to a tv? This would be handy to make sure it is on and ready? Can you also check what the version and api number are?

If you have done the scan have all the channels been found? If so are they just scrambled?

If this is the case have you tried pressing menu 1570 (secret menu) and turning the key emu to on!

I'm a bit lost now because updating the firmware won't help in viewing the channels unless this is a fix for thecurrent problem? The only way to view the channels is to manually enter the C*D*S each time they are rolled until a permanent fix is found?
