i don't know what i have missed in the settings. im thinking it might be something on my computer. i have looked at a few other threads about this but still no luck. i tried to find the network wizard but i don't have it. im runing windows me. here is my setup on evox. im also using the crossover and 1 nic card and dial up.

    type static
    ip 192.168.0.3
    line status 100/full duplex
    setupnetwork yes
    use static ip yes
    ip 192.168.0.3
    subnetmask 255.255.255.0
    default gateway 192.168.0.1
i have ftp enabled and telnet enabled.
the reason i think it is something to do on my computer is because it works fine when i set it up on his computer.i have tried the faq at www.xbox-scene.com/artices/network.php but that didn't help. thanks for your time in adv.

what are you settings for your NIC card on your computer? make sure the Subnet Mask and Default Gateway are correct.

well for a start dont use default gateway just leave it blank, are you using aol by any chance?? aol installs lot of unwanted network crap witch makes the ftp from the xbox not work unless your using windows xp,i had the same problem trying to network my xbox and it was all to do with aol.

as far as using a default gateway, you have to have one. otherwise you wont be able to connect. if you are running winxp, ftp'ing into your xbox is much easier as stated above.

xbox101 - what ip address are you assigning your NIC?

well i ftp all the time and i dont use a default gateway you dont need one trust me, i assume you are using win 98?? i didnt attempt to fix what aol fooked up (you can just uninstall aol to get it to work) i just installed muiltiboot with 98 and xp without installing aol on xp and it works great. but i think aol wont affect the ftp to the xbox if you do install it on xp,reason why i didnt instll aol on xp is coz xp sucks!!!

    hope this helps
