I play games, for instance nintendogs and new super mario bros, and when I shut down the DS, and load up again, it shows as if there are no save games, I am kinda bored of losing my save game data on some games. Thanks for your help in advance.

thats cool. Yeah the first few times you boot it up itll give you an error of some sort when its trying to autosave, just means that it was tested before you got it.

Are you actually saving in Mario?

If you havn't completed the game you can only save when you complete a castle or spend star coins.

So obviously, if you havn't saved in the game, the M3 has nothing to store.

Ok so i think i have it figured out after a bit of reading/expirimenting. It is my belief and understanding that when you play a game, it stores in a temporary memory, which is overwritten if you play a different game. What the backup/auto backup does is that it copies the save from the temporary memory to a permanant file, which is reloaded once you load up that game again, therefore putting you back where you were, is that the correct understanding?

yup, you're right. i haven't had a problem where my old save gets deleted from the temp memory before i play another game, but that also may be because i always shut off my DS before playing another game, so when it loads up it autosaves the old save
