    Hi starchy

Few things I have to ask you: What browser and version are you using? What trouble are you having while downloading exe files?

    Best Regards :D

    Hey starchy

Sorry for the late reply. :p

There are many problems which can cause irregular behavior when downloading exe files, and some of them include hardware firewalls, faulty network cards, and more. It really is impossible to find out what the problem is, and even Microsoft technicians cannot find the answer.

Can I get some information from you? I will need:

    1. Your entire hardware setup.
    2. Your Uninstall list, which can be gotten through HijackThis
    3. Try copying an exe file from one location to another, and see if it works fine.
    4. Click on your Start button, Run, and type in regedit. Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT by clicking the plus sign next to it, and scroll down till you find exefile. Right click on exefile, and click on Export. Save it to your Desktop, and then open the reg file using Notepad. Post the contents here.
    5. Do you have Nvidia network access manager?

    Best Regards :D

    Hey starchy

All the info you gave me seemed normal, and your HijackThis log (not exactly what I was looking for) shows no problems which will indicate a problem such as yours.

I don't know if I will be able to solve your problem; it's a rare one and I've never seen anything like it. All I'll need from you is the following information:

    1. What network card are you using?

    2. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and open Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Try downloading exe files from there, and see if it works.

    Best Regards :D

PS: Please also try at other forums besides this one, forums more specialized in general software problems.

Okay well the nic card i think i am using is Atheros AR5005G Wireless Network

and running IE with addons isnt under the system tools so i would think the equivilent would be safe mode on boot so i'll try that and see if it works
