I have clonedvd2, Decrypter, Shrink, dvd43, and fabdvd. However I still cannot copy a dvd made by Sony. Fab will copy it, but I cannot shrink it with Shrink. It will not even analize it, before it quits. I know that this can be done. others are doing it. Clone dvd cannot handle it either. So what is it that I lack? Do i still need somekind of software to shrink it,if Fab can put it in the hardrive?
clone dvd will decrypt, shrink and write it off the original dvd. But if it is a Sony forget it!! Please help me if you can. I also have nero 6.6 burning software. And I use a Sony rewriter. Go figure!

What movies are you doing? Most problem Sony movies have a thread started already with what other users have used to copy successfully and others users who have not had success.
What error message do you receive with the programs that don't work?

You have quite a number of software programs, but are they the lastest updates? I use strictly Clonedvd 2 with Anydvd and the only time I had a problem with a backup turned out to be a defective new dvd I had purchased. Latest Clonedvd is version 2841 and the latest Anydvd is 5261. Anydvd is the actual decrypter so it is the one that needs updated on a regular basis.

The movies I cannot copy are "hitch" and "Are we there yet" also had trouble with "taxi" I updated clone about 2 weeks ago. I do not have Anydvd, just Clonedvd2. I have Decrypter, and yes I have the latest Shrink. And I have the latest FabDVD,Dvd43. In reading the "Hitch Posts there were some saying that they could just use decrypter and shrink with no problem. that is not gonna work for me, I have tried that too many times with zero sucess. I guess it could be my method. I always copy off the dvd if I can, without putting it on the hardrive, and leaving it there.I can do this with clone2. Maybe this will tell you guys a little more. Let me know if I can help further.

Try using Decrypter in file mode, and putting the disk to your hardrive there is less chance for errors this way. You can also try using dvd43 with Decrypter some people have had luck this going this route. I would suggest AnyDVD if you have not done the trial version.

I only use one thing to copy dvds and its free. DVD Shrink is all I use and I get excellent quality dvds. Theres no need for other stuff that take up your hd space. Although it is good for something else, in case you want to split a movie, which really isn't necessary unless its like tv series things(i,e, just got my 3 dvds from netflix, one of them being X-Files season 1). OH yeah, one other things that does come in handy is Any DVD which is the way I copied the movie "HITCH". I had problems also with this movie, it would give me an error using DVD Shrink, I then looked up on the "Hitch Forum" and some guy said he used Dvd Shrink with Any DVD to copy it, it sure did the job.

For "hitch" use DVD decrypter rip to file mode then load shrink and write. You dont need anydvd or dvd43 for this movie. Shrink will not read bad sectors as "hitch" contains many of them. Decrypter reads just files thus it doesnt have any problems at all. Make sure you have the absolute latest version.
