Hey, I use anydvd (mostly for this reason) to change the 'firstplay' so it jumps directly to the main menu, with no bullshit in the begining. For some reason on stealth, it refuses to, anydvd doesnt say that it has changed it, so i burnt it, and tried sticking it in my computer again, and anydvd still refuses to, it worked fine for 'skeleton key' but this one is giving me trouble. here is my log when i put the already copied 'stealth' in [bold]Summary for drive F: (AnyDVD 5.5.3.1) Drive (Hardware) Region: 1 Media is a Data DVD. Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 1 Video DVD (or CD) label: DVD_VIDEO Media is not CSS protected. Video Standard: NTSC Media is region free. RCE protection not found. Arnie, I just tried that with the decrypter and anydvd running. Shrink still won't open the file. I did try it again with decrypter as an iso file like some have suggested and then sent it to shrink. I'm backing up the whole movie now like that. It's taking a long time since it has almost 4 hours of extras. I think if it works there is going to be a long blank pause in the beginning though! I tried the start and end frames thing before backing up but can't get it to be highlighted in Shrink like usual. I right click on it, but nothing gets highlighted. Is that because it's an ISO file or will it only do that if I re-author or am I doing something wrong again? Also what it anything is the advantage to using the Clone dvd instead of Shrink after anydvd? Any help would be appreciated. By the way, the re-authored movie only dvd I backed up of Madagascr using shrink with Anydvd running in the background is playing great, the only disadvantge now is that I couldn't back up the entire disc the same way.
Shrink just rips/compresses your movie and then you need another program to burn. Clone will rip/compress and also burns. The advantage of Clone is that it has better reauthoring capabililties you can remove what you do not want but still retain your menus which is something you cannot do with Shrink. Clone is also faster than Shrink, but Shrink is free. If I want a speedy backup I just use Clone, also Clone is updated where Shrink is not.
Arnie, Thanks a million. I'm going to try the Clonedvd soon. It pleases me to know there is always someone like yourself ready to give us newbies a hand when we need it! My back up of the entire movie as an iso burned good as far as I can see from skimming through it. You can tell it's alot more compressed than just the movie only, but it seemed to have worked. It doesn't have a long pause in the beginning like i though either. Got to go to work now to relax my mind from all these burning issues over the past couple days. Thanks for helping me out. I got the movie Stealth coming. Will anydvd or clonedvd handle that do you know?
Good luck, just reading over at CD Freaks a message from James of the Slysoft Team in regards to Madagascar, it looks like the dreaded protection RigGuard has finally come out and it is on this disk, People are having problems with the blank spots on the disk and the ending VTS files I wonder if Stealth has the same problem. At any rate it seems that ripping the movie only works. I used Recode two and edited out the blank spot in the beginning and the movie plays fine. According to James he thinks possibly within a week or two this all will get sorted out. Meanwhile if all else fails remember the movie only will work.
For Madagascar I started with Vobblanker ,with anydvd running in the background of course, and put my source drive in the input folder and saved it to my output folder and hit process. After that I went into Shrink opened up the file I had saved in the output folder and it went through the process just fine. Burned the whole disk features, movie, and extras with perfect picture quality.
Oh, and I didn't have any problem burning Stealth with just Shrink and Anydvd 5.5.4.1 running in the background.
I had no problem using dvdfab decrypter for stealth and dvd decrypter worked fine for madagascar. The on movie i have a problem with is remember the titans, it will copy the video but not the audio and yes i'm sure i didn't uncheck all the soundtracks.
That's not correct. You can use DVDFab Decrypter, then burn it. But wait till you try to play it. It skips chapters and is all screwed up. DVDFab needs an update to crack this one.
It seems there are several different programs out there, but not one which solves all the problems. I am presently using ANY DVD, but that doesn't work all the time, so I download DVD Decrypter, but that doesn't work all the time either. Now I have these plus DVD 2 One and DVD Fab Express on trial. Is this normal? Thanks
The above statement about DVD Fab decrypter is not true I used it on the movie Stealth and then used 1click dvd copy to compress and burn and I didn't miss any chapters and there wasn't any skipping. the dvd fab I'm using is 2.9.5.2 and it works fine.....
I agree, but it won't work on all movies - do you know why that is? I guess I'm just looking for one program which will solve the problems for all movies. Thanks
I really don't know why, the programs I use are DVD Fab decrypter, Any DVD and DVD43, between all of those I've been able to burn every movie I choose to, but I always use 1click dvd copy to compress and burn....or DVD xcopy platinum
Thanks you guys - This was extremely helpful. I used dvdfab express, dvd shrink, and dvd decrypter and it worked great. Thanks again!
I tried to burn stealth and I was using DVD Fab along with AnyDVD and used nero record to burn it back to disc...don't know if i should have done that or not but what happens is the movie stops at the end of ch8; right when the plane gets hit by lightning. and it freezes. has everyone watched the movie all the way through to make sure it plays all the way? I will try DVD shrink and Anydvd
i used anydvd running in backround and compressed with shrink then burned with dvddecrypter. this worked just fine no probs at all
Another alternative is to use just DVD Decrypter, only with a Structured Protection List file (PSL file). Various people make these files based on the DVDD error Log. DVDD has an option under File>Mode>Edit to read in these text files and use them when decrypting. Anyway one such file that does work (at least for me) is over on the Digital Video Forums - message #12 by V-BOT: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=57354&highlight=stealth+psl
