yeah, i am considering buying the HD advance2.0....but one thing has me wondering. Okay, i would like HD advance for the fast load times....yada....yada..but the pimary reason i would need it is for dvd-9 psp games, since i can not back-up dual layer media, i can only do dvd-5 back-ups. Ok here is where i'm confussed. i was searching on compatibility for HD advance and found this at http://forum.hdadvance.com/hd_advance_compatibility.asp?pageno=4&cataid= and i qoute DVD-9 Games HDAdvance does not support any games on DVD-9 media. If you attempt to install a DVD-9 game it is likely that the installation will appear successful, but any attempt to actually run the game will most likely fail. Please make sure that your game disc is not DVD-9 before conversion but on the same page it states that god of war, and gran turismo 4 both work fine. So which is it. do dvd-9 games work or not. Can some please clearify this for me, iwaiting to push the buy button for HD advance. I primarly need HD advance for dvd-9 games in my collection that i would like to back-up. Escpecially God of War, my copy is getting all messed up with scratches, since it's my favorite ps2 game. Just did some more research, and i think that i need HD advance 3.0 for DVD=9 back-ups. Guess i'll hold off on that buy button for a little longer.
when it says some work it is referring to fixes, gran turismo 4 does work perfectly as a dual layer on it but several patches and rebuilds are required and so on. It can only be done through a pc it CANNOT just read the GT4 disc and put it on the hd it is impossible no matter what. Basically you have to connect your PS2 HD to your pc and follow instrustions on how ti rebuild extract layers and all that junk then transfer it to your PS2 HD using winhip or HD handiness or something similar. As for god of war i have no idea. But version 3 implies that it will be able to read DVD-9s and copy them to the HD straight off which is a nice addition but it seems a little late to be implementing this idea really.
Hey thanks for the reply. Man that's alot of additional steps for dvd-9 back-up. But i expected as much, been researching it for a bit now. Nothing in the process's of the dvd-9 ripping seems to be challenging, but if i can bypass it then i'm all for it. Well then, guess i won't be pushing that buy button. agreed, seems a little to late, but a good acheivement non the less. Guess i'll just have wait for HD advance 3.0. thanks again for your help.
i have HD Advanca 3.0 and i'm just trying to learn how to use this thing, i have some PS2 games on my PC HDD and i keep turning them into ISO files like it asks, to and i transfer them to my PS2 HDD via a network...but the games i have tried so far just don't show up, any help would be appreciated. thanks
You have HDAdvance 3.0 already? I didn't think it was out yet. Here's something that might help you... http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/122897
from reading i do beleive that the North American (NTSC) version of HD Advance is NOT out yet. However, I have stummbled upon a few places selling the European version (PAL) of HD advance 3.0. I could be wrong but i think we still have to wait for HD Advance3.0 here in North America.
