If your HDTV already has a Tuner you only need an antenna. I use an antenna and I get all of my local channels over the air HD for free. ;)

Oh, don't know about laptops but I would think you would need a tuner for that too....if there is one.

but what's a tuner? does it scan frequenices? if it does, then i can already scan the hd frequencies. i think it's between 51000 to 86000 mhz and i scan that frequency range so it should get them. don't know why though. do you use cable or satellite?

Is the USB device supposed to be a TV receiver?

the usb is a tv receiver which has one end connected to the laptop and another end connected to an aerial. these aren't fixed, they can be remove, example, connect to a second laptop or use another aerial. make sense? hope it does.

If your receiver is an hd receiver it will tune ATSC, or digital signals.

Does it not work? Don't understand the problem.

What is this usb device you're talking about? Make and model number...
