i have an externl usb 2.0 hard dirve. its really an enclosure wtih a western digital 40gb on it. i plugged it into my usb port, turned it on and windows xp installed the drivers for it and all that. i went to my computer to look at it but its not there. i found it in the device manager and there are no errors but no matter what i do i cant find it in my computer. i have a dell dimension 4600, windows xp pro, 512 ram, 80gb internal, 2.8 ghz. any help would be gretaly appreciated thanks in advance
Hi shenfo Has the drive been partitioned, formatted and assigned a drive letter. You can checked that via Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management. I hope this helps
chthomson: I think you are on track. shenfo: You do need to format the HD. If it is not drive "C", Windows is not going to prompt you to do this. This is from a "RAID" drive experience. TC
