use 'getdataback' from http://www.runtime.org/ then after you have your photoes you can repartion the drive

the hiron boot disc has a number of partition tools but it's risky if you don't really know what your doing

    Thanks PC repair.

here's what it reads I got the error message again.

"Operating system OR hard disk partitions have been altered. The current restore point does not mathc either your current hard distk setup or your Operating System." thanks.

I've never or have I changed any of these things.

    Bump.

how do I know if my hard drive is dead. I can hear it spin still! and if it still spins wouldn't that make it functional, I know nothing about HD's so if the comment about still spinning makes you laugh, ! sorry.

reconnect the data cable to the drive & motherboard. try another cable. drive can still spin but the circuit board can be dead.
