If your looking to upscale dvd's or divx files you would be better served purchasing a dvd/divx upconvert dvd player and it would cost less however just from looking at the device I imagine it performs the same duties as a upconvert player just remember the upcoversion is only as good as the source material. Divx/xvid files made in the single cdrom format 700mb don't upscale as well as dvd files or large divx/xvid files made at 1-2gb.
